Moving with Thought - New Poems on Sound Cloud

Recently I was involved with a site-specific poetry project led by Sheffield Poet Matthew Clegg, as part of the Occursus project, which involved being guided through a scenic tour of Kelham Island, Neepsend, and Parkwood. These areas highlight how we are thrown back on ourselves when we apprehend the world 'out there' . Different people,  receiving the same sense data, see wildly different things.

Objectivity, while it may be approached, is both fluid and ungraspable. Poetry moves towards the world, yet it  can only arise from the poet's creating consciousness. This source, too, is both fluid and ungraspable. When the looker and the looked at become loose, when they merge together by a sort of reciprocal osmosis, a space is opened for poetry to crystallize within.

Brian Lewis of Longbarrow Press documented the event here: http://vimeo.com/44842548 video

He also conducted site-specific sound recordings of the the resulting work. My contribution can be heard here: http://soundcloud.com/moving-with-thought/mark-doyle-four-poems
